@twincitiespbs A couple weeks ago, Production Intern @Sab collaborated with our Almanac team at the BIPOC Foodways Alliance Table. There, she tested Minnesotans’ knowledge on our state’s new Marijuana Legalization that took effect on August 1st. BIPOC Foodways Alliance is an organization that “researches, archives, uplifts, and shares diverse food stories of all BIPOC communities in a changing America”. To learn more about their work, you can watch their segment on Almanac on our website (coming soon!) #bipocfoodways#owamni#twincitiespbs♬ original sound - TPT - Twin Cities PBS
@twincitiespbs The pioneering racially-mixed R&B group from Minnesota, Dave Brady & the Stars, popularized Motown music in many of the dance clubs around the Twin Cities & the surrounding five-state region. The band performed with many widely-known acts around the U.S., & were regular performers at Mr. Lucky's Night Club on Nicollet & Lake in Minneapolis. Individual "Stars" went on to play in other popular bands such as The Del Counts, Danny's Reasons, Class Action, the Mystics, Sounds of Soul, & Willie and the Bees, as well as national acts such as A&M artist, Rockie Robbins, the Bobby Lyle Trio, & Los Chamacos. In 2020, band member, Carl Bradley, helped Dave Brady's granddaughter track him down for the very first time. Carl has since passed away & unfortunately never learned of his crucial role in reconnecting the Brady family. Rest in peace, Carl!
